Completes

Complete dentures are removable prosthesis used to replace an entire arch.  Complete dentures can be opposed by natural dentition, partial dentures, complete dentures, and fixed appliances. With regular maintenance, complete dentures should be replaced every 5 years to maintain prime oral health.

At Modern Denture Care, we offer two different types of complete dentures to meet the needs of every individual. To design and fabricate a quality denture it takes anywhere between 5 to 7 record taking appointments.

Partials

Partial dentures are removable prosthesis meant for individuals who are missing one or more natural teeth. Partials are important because when a tooth is lost the remaining teeth may shift and migrate into the edentulous space. Causing crowding or crooked teeth, making it difficult to clean in between areas which then could lead to further tooth decay or tooth loss. Not replacing a missing tooth immediately after losing it may also cause the adjacent tooth to angle or drifting making it difficult to wear a partial later down the road. Partials also play a big factor in chewing abilities, without a partial you may risk causing damage to the gums and decrease chewing ability.
At Modern Denture Care, we offer two options for a removable partial prosthesis. We offer free consultations to find which options better fit your needs.

Cast partials:
This type of dentures contains a metal framework that is designed to accurately sit on top of your gums and clips on and around your remaining natural teeth to maximize support and stability. Cast partials are considered as a long term solution because of its strong, durable, lightweight, and hygienic advantages. These partials can be made of either chromium cobalt or titanium (recommended to those sensitive to metal). This option is best suited for individuals with stable and healthy natural teeth.
Acrylic Partials:
This type of partial typically serves as a temporary or transitional denture while the permanent solution is developed. Acrylic partials tend to be thicker and less comfortable however allows room for modification while changes still may occur. Acrylic partials offer little function due to its lack of support but can provide esthetics requirements in the short term.

Surgical dentures

Surgical Dentures are most often referred to as immediate dentures. These dentures are for patients transitioning from natural dentition to fully edentulous. The dentures will be fabricated before patients have their natural teeth extracted, it takes 1-2 appointments before extraction can be made by their dentist/ oral surgeon. Following the removal of the patient’s existing teeth, dentures will be inserted immediately after,  this way allowing patients to never go without teeth. Because surgical dentures are a transitional treatment, each patient’s recovery and adaptation period will differ. As the healing process takes place the tissue will start to resorb and change its shape, thus causing movement in the denture. At that point, we will place a temporary liner inside the denture to readapt to the new contours of the tissue. A temporary liner is a thin material that will fill the voids between the denture and the shrunken tissues. As the tissue continues to heal and change shape, the temporary liner will be removed and replaced with a new liner usually 2-3 times over the span of 6 months.  After 8-12 months a permanent reline is necessary for a stable refit of the denture to the proper tissue surface.
